The Chartered Accountants: ICAI CORPORATE FORUM BY THE COMMITTEE FOR MEMBERS IN INDUSTRY (CMII)

The Committee for Members in Industry of ICAI has come out with many flying colors. It is doing a really impressive job for the betterment of this part of CA Fraternity i.e. Members in Industry.

For the long time members in the Industry was seen as a distant relative of the Institute as their only role was to make annual membership payment. The constitution of this committee has successfully brought them home and now they wish and feel themselves as an important part of family. CPE has been made mandatory for them, due to which they got a chance to meet their colleagues in the same profession. Their busy life has spiced up a little and their spouses are also a bit happier.

Adding up more spice to it CMII has come with more attractions as mentioned by its Chairman, CA. SANJEEV MAHESHWARI in his communication. The Corporate Award among these attractions is one of the best initiative to inspire and recognize the community and it is bound to go a long way. FROM THE CHAIRMAN, MR. SANJEEV MAHESHWARI, OF THE COMMITTEE FOR MEMBERS IN INDUSTRY (CMII) OF THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF INDIA (ICAI)

We are pleased to inform you that the Committee for Members in Industry is organizing a comprehensive ICAI’s Corporate Forum during 23rd to 25th January 2009 at Mumbai consisting of three concurrent events:

1. Career Ascent - Mid Career Campus (23rd to 25th January, 2009) - Are you looking for a change in job? If yes, then end your search by participating in the Career Ascent event. This event serves as a platform for connecting the Chartered Accountants having 1 year or more of industry experience to the Corporate thereby enabling both of them to harness their skill sets to the optimum. Just register yourself at our Placement Portal www.cmii.icai.org, which is a single window recruitment system.

2. Corporate Conclave (23rd to 25th January, 2009) - Are you interesting in updating your knowledge as a professional? If yes, then participate in the Corporate Conclave event. It is a three full day National Conclave on contemporary topics such as IFRS Vs Indian GAAP, Direct Taxes and Raising of Financial Resources.

3. ICAI Awards 2009 (25th January, 2009) – Do you wish to nominate any leader for the Corporate Awards? These awards are instituted to acknowledge Chartered Accountants in industry who –
- have demonstrated excellence in the way in which they conduct their profession;
- are exemplary role models in the industry and
- have created value to their company's stakeholders on a sustainable basis.
The awards shall be given in the following categories viz.

I CA Business Achiever
This Category is for CEO’s/Directors (or individuals holding equivalent positions in their organization) in the following subcategories:

A) Financial Services
All Enterprises in Financial Sector (including NBFC’s, Capital Market, etc..) are covered under this category.

B) Corporate
All Large enterprises (including Manufacturing, Trading, Other Service Sector, etc..) are covered under this category. Enterprise with annual turnover in excess of Rs.500 crores or more than 200 employees will be considered as a Large Enterprise.

C) SME
All Medium/Small enterprises (including Manufacturing, Trading, Other Service Sector, etc..) are covered under this category Companies not covered in category of “Corporate” above are covered under this category.

D) OTHERS
All enterprises in any area other than the above listed categories are covered under this category.

II CFO
This category is for professionals in Senior Management capacity. This includes positions such as CFO’s, Business Vertical Heads, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Treasury Officer and such other equivalent positions.

III CA Professional Achiever
This category is for Managers, who have achieved excellence in their careers and are not covered in the categories stated above and is intended to honour the achievements of CAs in the early or middle part of their careers.

Subcategories:
Each of the Outstanding CFO and CA Professional Achiever awards will be given separately in various subcategories. These subcategories will include the following:

i. Manufacturing (including Processing, Mining, Plantations, Oil and Gas enterprises, etc..).

ii. Financial Sector (including Banking, Financial Institutions, Insurance, NBFC’s, Mutual Funds, etc..)

iii. Service Sector (including Hotels, Consultancy, Transport, Stock Exchanges, R & D, Private Hospitals, etc..)

iv. Information technology, Media, Communication and Entertainment Enterprises (including IT enabled Companies, KPO’s, Media, etc..)

v. Infrastructure and Construction (including Power Generation and Supply, Port Trusts, Metro, Roads, Real Estates, etc..)
vi. Public Sector (including Government Organizations, Regulators, etc..)

vii. Others (Section 25 companies, Educational Institutions, NGO’s, Charitable Hospitals, etc..)

viii. Woman (This is an additional category for woman open for all the sectors given above. A woman CFO / Professional Achiever can also apply / be considered in any of the above categories.)
